Fit is an installation consisting six custom-made white
shirts, each differs in fabric and style. A pliable body shape
is formed when each shirt is hung on a cage-like hanger made
of sixteen wires. It expresses the idea of the difference and
similarity between people and implies the identity of the
individual is shaped and resembled by the social and cultural
customs.
Everyday, we shift our role between a unique individual and a
team player. The content of being different and the sense of
security from fitting in a group are both essential. Through
this work, Meng attempts to explore the delicate balance
between the two.
It is an eternal search of while mingling with the crowds, how
we can uphold the distinct qualities within us.
